A Little Bit About Me...
The first 35 years of my life were spent exercising the right hemisphere of my brain – a hardworking academic, who excelled at mathematics, science and accountancy. Monty Python knew the truth though – I secretly wanted to be a lion tamer! Or an artist... less chance of being eaten.
In 2005 I was lucky enough to have a holiday in the Scottish Highlands. I was bowled over by the sheer beauty and majesty of the place. On the trip home, I couldn’t stop thinking about how I wanted to capture its beauty, it was an insistent siren song I could not ignore. Once home, I invested in a huge canvas, some acrylic paints, and let loose. The feeling was magical. I was transported into my own world. Maybe the painting wasn’t going to give Monet a run for his money, just yet, but I loved it. I felt a freedom I had never known before. I was 35, and the creative genie was out of the bottle, and she was never going back!
Today I spend my days painting in watercolour, interpreting the world around me, producing original works. The wonder of painting has never left me. The last fifteen years I have spent refining my art, which I continue to do every day.
Right and left brains play nicely together these days, combing the artistic and the practical. I make gifts from my paintings to produce beautiful and original pieces such as keepsake boxes, memorial boxes and stationery. You can see my process videos here.
I am a very happy lion tamer.
